Riparian Area Protection Regulation

DANACA is experienced in completing Riparian Areas Protection Regulation (RAPR) Assessments and determining the Streamside Protection and Enhancement Area (SPEA). RAPRs are required by local governments whenever the proposed development, including building a new house or an addition, within 30 meters of streams, lakes, or wetlands.

The Riparian Areas Protection Regulation’s purpose is to help maintain the stream health, fish populations, and overall productivity of the stream's ecosystem by determining the Streamside Protection and Enhancement Area (SPEA). Riparian areas are the buffer zone between urban development and natural streamside areas.
